The core belief of the Huna is that everything seeks harmony and everything seeks love. This is then related to the Lomi Lomi massage. How? Well, this can best be understood by one of the alternate names for Lomi Lomi, and that is “Loving Hands” massage. This is because in a Lomi Lomi massage, the practitioner works gently yet deeply into the muscles with continuous, flowing strokes, totally nurturing the body and, enabling the recipient to relax, give in and simply be.

Therefore, as techniques is an important part of the massage and associated healing, much of the work is done by love, with the focus of the practitioner on the client being deep and complete, using loving hands and a loving heart. This makes Lomi Lomi massages a technique, which brings out physical as well as mental relaxation.
Our mind and the body are invariably interlinked and mutually interdependent. Good health depends on having both aspects in a harmonious balance. Lomi Lomi massages seeks to rid the body of physical and mental stresses, and free up the energy flow, and is done with a combination of prayers, breathing techniques and intuitive massage strokes.

Lomi Lomi Philosophy & Traditions

An important aspect of Lomi Lomi is allowing the individual being massaged to relax and open themselves to healing. This healing is based in not only the physical manifestations of pain but also the mental and spiritual pains that root deeply into our memories and physical bodies

You will be probably surprised if I tell you that I am professional dance performer worked with many world leading companies all around the globe, such as Cirque du Soleil and so on. Since I have always work with my body and by teaching and choreographing since 20 years I've learnt so much about our bodies what ended up to I couldn't help myself but to learn how to treat my body the best I could in such a heavy condition for my every day life.
I was always very interested and fascinated about my body and it's capacity, as well as finding healing and healthy ways to keep it as healthy and strong as I possibly can. Many times I realized how important is to actually find calmness, peace and love in order to find the balance.
Isn't it what we are always look for?

I studied many different body work, massage therapy, but I always found myself coming back to looking for my inner peace.

WHAT IS LOMI LOMI

WHAT IS LOMI LOMI?

Lomi lomi is a traditional Hawaiian massage that uses a combination of massage techniques, oils, and sometimes elements of prayer, breathing and dance to restore energy and soothe the body. It is also known as the 'loving hands' massage. This name helps to explain its principles - the massage works gently yet deeply into the muscles with continuous, flowing strokes, allowing the recipient to relax and give in to the nurturing touch. Lomi Lomi works from the belief that memories are not just stored in the brain and mind, but also in every cell of the human body. The long, continuous strokes of the massage are designed to help the body let go of its old patterns and behaviors, which can cause as many stresses and strains as muscle tension. Before you go the nature of Lomi Lomi means that you probably won't be able to wear very much, so check with the spa about what you can bring. Bikini bottoms are usually OK - or the spa might even provide disposable paper pants - not a fashion item. It's worth remembering that the oils used in massage are not kind to hair or make-up, so you might not want to return to work straight after your treatment. But that's fine - if you clear your diary for the afternoon, you'll be able to spend longer in post-Lomi Lomi heaven. Avoid eating heavy meals or drinking alcohol in the hours leading up to your massage What to expect from a Lomi Lomi massage Traditionally, Lomi Lomi massage is performed with the recipient lying on a hand-woven mat on the floor. However, you may find yourself on a conventional massage table, or lying directly on the vinyl of it. Instead of being covered with towels, you might just have one towel or a small sheet to preserve your modesty. These steps are taken to avoid interrupting the continuous flow of the massage. The Lomi Lomi healing practice usually begins with a period of stillness between therapist and recipient, sometimes with the therapist's hands resting lightly on the recipient's back. During this moment of stillness, a traditional Lomi Lomi practitioner would say a blessing or prayer, asking for whatever healing is needed. The therapist will work intuitively with your body, with fluid, rhythmic strokes to release and shift tensions. There is no set format for the massage itself, so no two massages are the same. The treatment may be slow and relaxing or faster and more invigorating, depending on how your body responds.

WHAT IS SHI-TU

WHAT IS SHI-TU?

A MIXTURE OF ALL MY STUDIES IN BODY WORK with the focus of Shiatsu Massage. THE SESSION IS ON THE GROUND WITH A  MATTRESS GROUNDED TO THE FLOOR. MASSAGE HAPPENS IN CLOTHES. Shiatsu is a form of massage that utilizes the hands, thumb, or other body parts, to apply direct pressure on various points or channels in the body. It is performed through loose clothing and does not use oils. Massage is a practice that has been present for thousands of years. When should you not do shiatsu massage? The application of shiatsu techniques also has local contraindications such as varicose veins, wounds, bone fractures, recent scars, and areas of inflammation. Inflamed, painful joints, including arthritic joints, are contraindications for range of motion techniques.

When is Massage NOT ALLOWED?

Massage Therapy performed by a well-trained massage therapist can benefit our bodies in a lot of ways . But, there are instances where massage CANNOT be performed at all at any part of the body.  The reason the patient cannot get a massage is for the patients’ own safety and in some cases (eg. if the patient has an infectious disease – for the safety of the massage therapist and other patients). Patients must be referred to a physician/ medical doctor instead.

When Not to Get a Massage:

Note: Contraindicated means the treatment should not be used. Massage being contraindicated means massage should not be used or applied in the given condition or circumstance. In the following cases, massage is totally/ absolutely contraindicated. Massage in the following cases is not recommended in any part of the body – No massage must be given at all.

  1. When patient is in shock, is having or just had a stroke, or a heart attack (acute stage).  The patient must wait until the disease is PAST the ACUTE PHASE/ ACUTE STAGE before getting a massage – better yet, ask for your physician for the ‘go ahead’. For example,  in stroke patients, there is a high risk of a second stroke occurring within one month of the first stroke. After about six months, the risk of the occurrence of another stroke becomes lower.

    • Shock is a critical condition where there is a sudden drop in blood flow through the body –  sharply curtailing the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to vital organs.

  2. Intoxicated patients (drugs and alcohol) — patients who are heavily intoxicated with drugs and alcohol must not be given a massage.

  3. High Fever – patients with significant fever (above 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit, or above 38 degrees Celsius) cannot be given a massage. If you are sick and have a fever, it is better to wait until you are healed from before you get a massage. Most people get fever because they are fighting an infection from virus or bacteria (which also could be contagious).

  4. Massage must not be performed Right After a Major Surgery. A major surgery is any surgical procedure that penetrates and exposes a body cavity – surgery that has the potential for causing permanent anatomic or physiologic impairment, any procedure related to orthopedics or extensive tissue transaction or dissection.

  5. Meningitis — patients with meningitis cannot be massaged. Besides meningitis being a life-threatening condition because it affects the brain and spinal cord, meningitis can also be contagious.

  6. Patients who are experiencing severe unexplained internal pain cannot have a massage treatment — they must immediately see a doctor.

  7. Hemorrhage (the escape of blood from vessels).

  8. Massage therapy is not recommended for people who have severe Atherosclerosis. Atherosclerosis is a form of arteriosclerosis – a group of diseases where there is thickening and loss of elasticity of the arterial walls

  9. Massage for patients who have Acute Pneumonia (inflammation of the lungs – bacterial or viral) is not allowed.

  10. Pregnant women who are suffering from Eclampsia: convulsions  occurring in a pregnant woman associated with hypertension, proteinuria or edema. Note: Healthy pregnant women can get a massage (see Pregnancy Massage Procedure for more information)

  11. Massage therapy is not recommended for patients with severe Hemophilia. Haemophilia is a hereditary hemorrhagic disease that causes varying degrees of spontaneous bleeding. Internal bleeding (in joints and muscles) can be caused by even a minor trauma to muscles and joints in people with severe and moderate hemophilia.

  12. Massage therapy for Advanced Kidney Failure is contraindicated. Patients who have advanced kidney failure must not be massaged.

  13. It is absolutely not recommended to massage patients with Respiratory Failure.

  14. It is absolutely not recommended to massage patients with Liver Failure.

  15. It is absolutely not recommended to massage a person who is suffering from Appendicitis.

  16. Patients with highly Metastatic Cancers eg. lymphoma, malignant melanoma should not be massaged.

  17. Patients who have Diabetes Mellitus 1 or 2 with advanced heart or kidney disease or advanced vascular complications, cannot be massaged.

  18. Massage is contraindicated for sudden onset of severe undiagnosed headache – when there is no previous history of similar severe headaches, and dizziness or numbness or sleepiness, the person must be referred to a doctor before being given a massage.

  19. It is absolutely not recommended to massage patients with Advanced Organ Failure.

  20. Patients with Pitting Edema cannot be massaged. Pitting Edema is edema/swelling where when pressure is applied to the skin of the swollen area, and then released — an indentation is left behind.

  21. Massage is contraindicated for chronic active hepatitis (persistent and progressive inflammation of the liver).

  22. Massage is not allowed for patients with (infective and non-infective) endocarditis/pericarditis. Endocarditis is the inflammation of the heart’s inner lining. Pericarditis is the inflammation of the pericardium – the fibrous sac surrounding the heart.

  23. Patients with lung abscess or lung tumour should not be given a massage treatment.

  24. Patients with sepsis (blood infection) or Bacteremia (blood stream infections), cannot be given a massage therapy treatment.

  25. To protect the massage therapist and other massage patients, massage is contraindicated and should be rescheduled if a patient has a contagious, airborne, infectious disease such as flu, colds, sore throat due to strep throat, shingles, etc.

  26. Patients with Infectious Skin Conditions must not be given a massage.

  27. Certain spinal diseases (not in all cases)

  28. The strongest day of menstruation (this varies from person to person, it is not a health problem, but if it is too unpleasant for you, it is worth postponing or consulting before the sessions)

  29. Acute hernia (most hernias are not contraindicated, but be sure to indicate if you have some kind of hernia)

  30. Epilepsy

  31. Haemophilia (consultation may not always be required)

Before the first time, it is mandatory to sign that you are not subject to contraindications to your knowledge. These are solely for your safety. My services are not a substitute for Medical Care!
